Stone Lithography a planographic printmaking process that works a little like magic, using the natural resistance between grease and water to create richly expressive images. While stone lithography has a reputation for being challenging, this workshop is designed to gently introduce you to the fundamentals of the chemische druckerei invented by Alois Senefelder, giving you the confidence to continue exploring the process independently in the studio afterward.

You’ll be guided step by step through hand-graining the stone, drawing with traditional lithographic crayons and pencils, carefully etching to fix your image, and printing in black ink on paper using a classic lithographic press. Along the way, you’ll discover the uniquely delicate lines and subtle surfaces that make stone lithography so compelling, qualities that can’t be replicated by any other traditional printmaking technique.

Come ready for a hands-on, immersive experience and enjoy learning the basics of this beautiful and time-honoured process in a supportive studio environment.
