Blandy was born in London UK in 1966, and immigrated to Canada in 1987. She holds a BFA from Emily Carr University of Art and Design, and is currently a Master of Liberal Arts post-graduate candidate at Simon Fraser University. Past awards include the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant and the Contemporary Art Society of Vancouver Emerging Artist Award. Additionally, she has served on the boards of several non-profit arts organizations. Her work has been represented in the UK and Canada for 35 years and is included in a number of collections, notably the Primary Collection of the National Portrait Gallery, London. Known for her use of line Blandy’s etchings and monotypes had a quiet following throughout the 90’s and early 2000’s particularly with London based galleries. Her recent work is situated within current discourses including: the body as site of sensation and consciousness, how a body feels metaphysically, environmental and humanistic theology, and extinction.
