Val Loewen The Watcher

Val Loewen is a Vancouver based artist living and practising on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations. Her work has been exhibited in Canada, the United States, and Japan and is currently held in national and international collections. Her practice is based primarily in print media and intersects with various elements, including memory, consciousness, and playful imagination. She has practised as a collaborative artist, instructor, and print media technician at various printmaking centres in Vancouver. She is currently the Production Manager at Malaspina Printmakers Society where she works collaboratively with artists and community members to facilitate the exploration of print media. She received her BFA from NSCAD University in 2012.
