D'Arcy Basil is a Secwepemc artist from the Bonaparte Band. He started his interest in carving growing up in Alert Bay, BC. Master carvers such as Beau Dick and Wayne Alfred showed Darcy basic skills and techniques as a young man. Later he moved to Victoria and worked with Carey Newman a life long friend and observed the Coast Salish style he has followed in his career. D'Arcy now apprentices with Chris Sparrow in Musqueam. He has developed a unique contemporary style working along side Chris and uses the legends and appreciation of land and animals from the Coast Salish territory to create beautiful works of art on display around the world.

These prints were featured during the weekend fundraiser on Granville Island titled “No Children Will Be Forgotten” to generate revenue in support of a monument to honour the children who perished at the Kamloops Indian Residential School.
