Learn the technique of creating Plant-based water ink for monotype printmaking. Participants will learn the traditional technique of Japanese wood relief ink making, then utilize it for monotype printmaking on plexiglass through a press. Previous experiences in any printmaking technique is encouraged but not required.

Ed will provide two different types of plant material for each participant to extract their own water-based printmaking ink. Each participant is encouraged, but not required, to collect and bring their own plant ingredients for the later sessions. On the second and third days, Ed will demonstrate the process of transferring the ink painted image onto paper through monotype printmaking. Participants will have the opportunity to create several prints with leftover ink for future projects.
