Join Saskia Jetten in learning the basics of stone lithography: grinding, drawing, etching, proofing and printing of black/white prints on paper. The focus of the workshop is to gain confidence in this technique that is still thought to be a magic trick of ‘chemische druckerei’.

Saskia Jetten She/Her

Saskia Jetten is a contemporary printmaker who resides on the Sunshine Coast, where she operates a print studio. Jetten works in a wide variety of media including graphite, woodcut, intaglio and stone lithography, applying these techniques to paper and also to less conventional materials such as silks and ceramics. Her favourite medium was her first love and is still her main love; stone lithography. Her work touches on themes related to theatre, identity, and interpersonal relationships, and she often uses the face (or the mask) as a starting point for an artwork. Continually pushing the boundaries of printmaking, Jetten has exhibited widely in Europe, Canada, China and the US. She has received numerous prizes and grants for her work internationally and was recently a jury member for the 9th International Biennale for Contemporary Printmaking in Québec (summer 2015). She has a broad experience of 25 years international teaching on University level, and is a passionate tutor/coach and art educator. Her work can be viewed at www.saskiajetten.com
