Join Maya Schueller-Elmes in the pursuit of the harmonious relationship between copper, acid, and pressure! This workshop covers the basics of intaglio, from drypoint to etching.

Intaglio is a family of printmaking techniques in which an image is incised into a plate, the incised areas of the plate hold ink during the printing process. A traditional etching press is used to apply enough pressure onto the plate to transfer the ink onto cotton rag paper.

Using copper and plexi glass plates, participants will learn plate preparation, explore techniques for image making (acid and acid free), and create original prints with a press.
