Timothy Nash is a multidisciplinary artist and instructor working in printmaking, drawing, painting and design. Thematic considerations in his work revolve primarily around the act of seeing/looking and the threshold between the worlds on either side of our eyes. By manipulating this threshold, the vast space within this interface is made available for exploration and assessment. Through the use of formal devices such as blurring and exaggerated line shots, individual elements of an image are limited in order to create a unified surface where the figure/ground relationship is obscured. In his prints, Nash creates meaningful, quiet spaces for the viewer to inhabit. His work has appeared in various group and solo exhibitions across Canada, and is included in private collections nationally and abroad. He received his BFA from the University of Alberta in 1988, and completed his MFA in drawing and printmaking at the University of Windsor in 1990. Since 1994 he has taught courses in several disciplines, including printmaking and painting, at Langara College in Vancouver.
