Learn the beauty of relief printmaking in four sessions! This course includes familiarizing
with tools, sharpening, papers, inks, color-mixing and registration.
It is designed for all levels of experience, from beginners to advanced.

Incorporating a range of chisels and other tools, we will explore the broad range of
effects possible in woodblock printing. Participants will create their prints using the
reduction process; starting from a concept drawn onto a woodblock, sequences of
colors are printed by cutting away the relief surface. During this four-evening workshop,
you will develop your design, translate it to the block, carve, ink and print an edition.
Students are asked to bring to the first class a sketch as a rough idea for their print. All
related materials, including carving tools, inks and papers, are provided.
