Heather Aston was born and raised in West Vancouver. She graduated with honours in Printmaking from the Vancouver School of Art (Emily Carr University) in 1971, and received the Helen Pitt Scholarship in 1968-1971. She also studied at the Santa Reparata Institute in Florence, Italy, where she fell in love with the immediacy and spontaneity of monotypes.
Her prints have been shown in group exhibitions at the Surrey Art Gallery, the Grand Forks Art Gallery, the University Women’s Club at Hycroft, and the Maple Ridge Art Gallery, and in a solo exhibition at the Dundarave Print Workshop + Gallery on Granville Island in 2014.
She teaches painting and printmaking in schools and art institutes, including at Malaspina Printmakers. She has been an artist-in-residence at the OM Printmaking Studio in Yokohama, Japan, and in the Art Enhancement Program at Artists For Kids, North Vancouver. Her work is represented in numerous collections in Canada, the United States, Europe, Australia, and Japan.
