The Malaspina Printmakers studio offers professional facilities for lithography, intaglio, relief and photo-based printmaking.  Artists have access to equipment which includes manual and motorized litho presses, four etching presses, an aquatint box, a fully equipped darkroom and a good selection of limestone and marble stones.

Etching Facilities

The studio has 4 presses for etching as well as monoprinting and relief printing:

  Bed 28" x 48" (71 x 122 cm.)
• Hunter Penrose Etching Press
  Bed 21" x 34" (53 x 86 cm.)
• Glen Alps Press
  Bed 34" x 66" (86 x 168 cm.)

  Bed 43 x 84" (107 x 213 cm.)

Lithography Facilities

Malaspina has a library of limestone and marble stones in a range of sizes. The largest marble stones are 32" x 46" (81 x 117 cm) and 36" x 24" ((92 x 61 cm); the largest limestones are 26" x 38" (66 x 97 cm). The studio also has many smaller stones of various sizes. Artists pay a nominal monthly fee for the stones they are using. A variety of leather and rubber litho rollers is also available. The studio has 2 litho presses:

• Griffin Hand Litho Press
  Bed size 32" x 56" (81 x 142 cm.)
• Griffin Motorized Litho Press
  Bed size 31 1/2" x 57" (80 x 144 cm.)

Darkroom and Photoexposure Equipment

• Darkroom equipped with Beseler MX Enlarger with colourhead
• Plate maker / O-lite exposure unit with vacuum table
  Frame size 32 x 37" (81 x 94 cm.)

Digital Print Lab

Malaspina Printmakers is in the process of adding a Digital Print Lab to its facilities.
