Barb Choit will teach this comprehensive, two day primer for those looking to experiment with digital printing. Those already experienced with inkjet printing will learn the theory and the “tips and tricks” for getting superior results. By the end of the course, all students will be primed and ready to explore the full aesthetic capabilities of Malaspina’s inkjet printing facilities.

Barb Choit lives and works in Vancouver. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Emily Carr University of Art + Design, a Master of Fine Arts from California Institute of the Arts, and a Master of Arts in Curatorial Studies from Columbia University. Choit has exhibited widely at international venues such as the Queens Museum of Art (New York) the Swiss Institute (New York), China Art Objects (Los Angeles), Cooper Cole Gallery (Toronto), Office Baroque (Brussels), Macaulay & Co. Fine Art (Vancouver), and Rawson Projects (New York). Her work has been reviewed in publications such as Artforum, Art in America, Canadian Art, and the New York Times. Her practice is primarily focused on photography. Key themes of interest across her work include the circuits of advertising, foreign artifacts, and the excess of expensive yet perishable items such as flowers and food. Many of Choit’s artworks investigate the way that art history and advertising can merge through the photographic image.
