Gillian Armitage is an artist and educator. She studied fine art at Western Washington University, USA and Kingston-upon-Hull College of Art, England. Her artistic practice embraces painting, drawing, printmaking, and three dimensional and installation pieces. Her work has featured in exhibitions all over the world and can be found in some notable collections including: The Canadian Art Bank; British Columbia Art Collection; Canadian High Commission, London, UK and The Vivian & Gordon Gilkey Center for Graphic Arts, Portland Art Museum, USA.

Gillian has taught at Emily Carr University, Kwantlen Polytechnic University and Malaspina Printmakers in British Columbia, Canada, and Scarborough College of Art in the U.K. She has served as President of Malaspina Printmakers and was a founding member and Director of Print Artists Northwest in Portland, Oregon. Gillian has been awarded 3 Canada Council Grants and has been an Invited Speaker at Portland Art Museum, USA and the Nagasaki Peace Museum and the Inocho Paper Museum in Japan.
