The lithographic stone presents the artist with one of the finest and most sensual surfaces on
which to draw and paint. It provides endless opportunities for mark-making and suits every
artistic style from expressionistic painting to fine detailed drawing. Participants in this
course will be introduced to the process of stone lithography and a high standard of
safety and good print shop practices. The goal is to complete 2 black and white prints involving a range of specific techniques.

Gillian Armitage was educated at Western Washington University, USA and Kingston-upon –Hull College of Art, England. She has instructed at ECIAD, Vancouver; Kwantlen College, Surrey and Scarborough School of Art, U.K. Her artist practice includes painting, lithography, intaglio and relief printing.
