Special Opening Event, Thursday June 19, 2008, from 7pm – 9pm
Malaspina Printmakers is please to present its Annual Members Exhibition and Summer Fundraiser Hot Off the Press featuring over 100 fresh prints from more than 40 local, national and international print artists. Hot Off the Press is a dynamic display of contemporary prints in a range of different print media showcasing the wide variety of work made by members of Malaspina Printmakers. Original hand printed and framed works on paper are hung salon style in the gallery and will be available to the public. As the show proceeds over the summer new work is hung so the exhibition is constantly evolving.
To launch this exciting summer exhibition, there will be a Special Opening Event held on June 19th featuring food, drinks, music and a silent auction featuring the work from the highly successful Print Parallels exhibition. In celebration of the Malaspina Membership, who’s support is so important to the success of the Centre, all Members will receive a discount on print purchases at the Opening Event! Anyone in the community can become a member of Vancouver’s only artist run centre dedicated to print culture! For one night only, Memberships will be on sale for only $30 and include such benefits as a complimentary subscription to CHOP, discounts at Opus Framing and Paper-Ya, Members discounts on all Malaspina Printmakers courses and workshops, and of course, discounts on Print purchases at the Annual Members Exhibition! A portion of the proceeds from print sales help to support educational programming at the Centre including Student Scholarships, Research Residencies and Visiting Artist Residencies. Many of the exhibiting artists will be in attendance at the opening, so this is a great opportunity to meet the artists and ask them about their art!
